Halibut Cove is located inside the Kachemak Bay State Park and
Wilderness Park, which covers 400,000 acres of mountains, glaciers, and
forests. Around the edges of the Halibut Cove Lagoon there is a Ranger
Station and several park campgrounds. There is a three-room public use
at the southern end of the cove. The Alaska Department of Natural
Resources rents out this cabin nightly. To inquire, call (907) 262-5581
or (907) 235-7024.
One of the best ways to explore the park is by way of the many hiking
trails that have trailheads along the cove.
China Poot Lake Trail
2 Miles Long - Starts near the Ranger Station and passes three lakes
beneath China Poot Peak.
Lagoon Trail
About 5.5 Miles Long - Also starts near the Ranger Station has a greater
